John C. Russell B.A., J.D.
John Russell has spent his entire legal career advising and representing Management in the complete range of Workplace Safety and Insurance Law matters, including Claims management, RTW, and Appeals before the WSIB and WSIAT.
He has been Certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Workplace Safety & Insurance Law since 1997.
A native Montrealer, John attended Loyola prior to moving to Toronto, where he graduated cum laude from the University of Toronto with a degree in Philosophy. He earned his Law degree at Osgoode Hall, with emphasis on Labor Relations and Employment Law. He articled with a personal injury and medical malpractice firm in Toronto, where he helped launch a constitutional challenge to the then-Workers' Compensation Act.
John was called to the Bar in 1986. The following year, he was an instructor in the Bar Admission Course on Workers' Compensation.
He joined the Ottawa Office of the Employer Adviser in 1987, where he advised, trained, and represented Employers in all areas of Workers' Compensation Law.
John co-founded his original firm with Perry McCuaig in 1997. Perry left us far too soon, in 2001, but his sharp mind, strength of character, and fierce dedication to protecting client interests live on as an inspiration in John’s practice.
John recently relocated his practice from downtown Ottawa to Kanata, where he is in his 25th year of exclusively protecting the interests of Employers from all industry sectors before the WSIB and the WSIAT.
He is also a member of the County of Carleton Law Association, and of the International Legal Fraternity of Phi Delta Phi.
